Registration for the USA State Series is now open! Here are the dates and locations of each event in the USA State series. District 8 Tournament: Saturday, March 17 at Hillsboro High School Region D Tournament: Saturday, March 24 at Seckman High School State: Friday, March 30-Saturday, March 31 at Chaifetz Arena Before registering, please check your calendar and make sure your wrestler is available on ALL of these dates. Also, each of these tournaments has weigh-ins, and the wrestler will remain in the same weight class for the duration of the tournament. Each wrestler is responsible for providing his own seeding information prior to the district seeding meeting. All participants will compete in the state tournament series at the age they were on December 31, 2017 (8U, 10U, 12U or 14U). How it works: Anyone born in 2003 through 2009 can register. They must have a current USA card. This is included with Junior Spartan registration but NOT with Mini Spartan registration. Any minis who are old enough may participate by purchasing a USA card for $41. (I can help with this.) We will accept registrations for the District 8 tournament at FHC through Thursday, March 8. Cost is $20. Each tournament is a qualifier for the next. The top SIX placers in each district (there are eight, and we are in District 8) qualify for the regional tournament (there are four, and we are in Region D). If your wrestler is in a small bracket, ALL of the wrestlers in his bracket may qualify for regionals and possibly even for state. Even if this occurs, they still are required to weigh in and show up at the tournament to advance. Registration fees for the Region D tournament are due on the spot, before leaving the district tournament, so have cash or check on hand. Flier is not out yet, but expect cost of $20-$30. The top FOUR placers in each region qualify for the state tournament. Again, registrations for state will be taken on the spot. We pay as a club before leaving. We also take T-shirt orders for state on the spot. Wrestlers who qualify for state will receive custom Spartan Wrestling Club state T-shirts (at no cost to you) with name and weight on the back. Families will also have the opportunity to purchase additional shirts at this time. Shirt orders require a lightning-fast turnaround time, so this will be the only opportunity to purchase them. The state tournament is a two-day event, with an opening parade and first rounds on Friday and medal rounds on Saturday. The finals round opens with personal introductions of all wrestlers who make the finals. The state tournament is also a team event. Last year, Spartan Wrestling Club finished third overall and first in the 12-and-under division. All three tournaments are visible on trackwrestling.com. If you type "District 8" or "Region D" or "Missouri USA State" in the Search Events box you can usually find them pretty quickly. Our club will hold a schedule of practices just for our USA participants to prepare them for competition. That schedule will be forthcoming and will be based on numbers interested in attending on different nights. Still have questions?
