Important news for the week!
I hope everyone who went to the Howell North tournament today had a safe trip home!
If your child was to wrestle in the canceled afternoon session, please pick up your refund Tuesday at practice from Anne Jundt (she's usually by the registration board). We are going to issue refunds in lieu of credits to make the recordkeeping easier on ourselves.
Registrations due this week
Registrations are due at the end of practice Tuesday, Dec. 17 for two tournaments. Note: If school is canceled Tuesday due to weather and we are unable to practice, please check email and stay tuned to Remind for alternate registration instructions if you still need to sign up for either tournament.
•Zebra Classic Officials Tournament - Sun., Dec. 22. Note that there is a $5 adult admission fee for this tournament. This is a regular AAU tournament with brackets grouped by weight and experience rating. If wrestling in this one, make sure your child gets a weight check at practice Tuesday.
•Missouri Challenge Tournament - Sat., Dec. 28 for Gold Division/first-year wrestlers (and all Tots) and Sun., Dec. 29 for Blue Division/experienced wrestlers.
The Missouri Challenge is a bracketed weigh-in tournament. Please read the flier thoroughly for this one. ALL wrestlers must choose a weight class when they sign up and weigh in at or under that weight while wearing a singlet at one of the times designated in the flier.
There is also a seeding meeting for the Blue division only. If registering for the Blue division, you may submit seeding information on or with your form when you sign up. Seeding information would include finishes at last year's Triple Crown events (Ozark AAU/MO Challenge/AAU State), overall record and head-to-head results vs. others expected to be in that weight class. This is up to you to provide. We will also need parents to attend the seeding meeting on behalf of our wrestlers. If you feel you could represent an age group at this meeting, please reply to this email. We will need at least one for Bantams, Midgets, Novices, Schoolboys and Cadets.
The flier also states that there could possibly be brackets for girls if enough girls register at a given weight class and age group. We will not know this in advance, however.
Online Store Orders - Tentative Pickup Tuesday
The last of our order items was to have arrived to the store vendor on Friday for screening and/or embroidery. I have requested the orders to be delivered to FHC by Tuesday. Our TENTATIVE plan is to distribute orders between the end of high school practice at 5 and the start of Junior Spartan/Mini Spartan practice at 6. We will have only ONE designated order pickup. If you are unable to pick up your order Tuesday evening, we request that you ask someone else to pick it up on your behalf. High-school orders will be distributed to students unless we have been requested not to. Junior Spartan orders will ONLY be distributed to adults.
I will confirm this pickup via Remind on Tuesday when I get notification of delivery.
Last Thursday, we held our first Alumni Night for the wrestling program at our dual. Because the wrestling room was needed for the high-school wrestlers to warm up in before the dual, we delayed the start of Jr. Spartan practice until 7. We still had many wrestlers show up early, and our dual ran late, tying up our coaches. The end result was a chaotic start to practice. Our apologies for this. If we have too much going on in a single evening in the future, we will cancel or reschedule practice.
