Weekly Update
We hope everyone had a great experience at our tournament on Sunday! If your wrestler's day didn't go the way he wanted, please reassure him that many of our club's winningest wrestlers' first tournaments went the same way! It is a learning experience for everyone, and there are plenty more opportunities to earn medals this season. Thank you We are blessed with an outstanding group of Spartan parents, led by Julie Graham, who worked together to make our tournament a success. For those who didn't know, we also hosted a seven-team elementary dual team tournament on Saturday at FHC. Tom Hernandez directed this tournament – the first dual tournament we've hosted – and was supported by a dedicated group of Spartan parents to pull off a great tournament. Our Spartan team fought hard and earned second place, behind Grindhouse Wrestling out of the Kansas City area. After this tournament concluded around 10 p.m., these parents stayed at the school as late as 2 a.m. to get our Sunday tournament set up, bracketed and ready for the morning's events. They went home and returned just a few hours later to get the tournament going. The day ran very smoothly, and nearly 500 wrestlers competed with very few hitches. Special thanks to Julie and Adam Graham, Tom and Meghan Hernandez, Doug Shepard, Jessi Cook, Troy and Lisa Ferrero, and Ryan Linsman for giving up their entire weekends, and then some, to make these events possible. You are always willing to do whatever is needed, and we can't express our appreciation enough! Thanks also to all the other parents and family members who helped in some capacity, and to the rockstar siblings who did anything we asked all day long! This Week The deadline for Saturday's Howell North tournament is Thursday at 6 p.m. Link to flier: http://www.aausports.org/play/event-files/flyers/2fdc72c1-ba59-452c-b8cf-f813520ccc9a_flyer.pdf We have added another tournament to the schedule: the Holiday Beginner's Tournament is Saturday, Dec. 10 at Whitfield High School. This is for first-year wrestlers only. I am unsure whether the club will be able to send coaches to this tournament, so if you do not have an AAU coach's card, you may want to wait until I can confirm this before you sign up. The deadline for this tournament is also Thursday at 6 p.m. Link to flier: http://www.aausports.org/play/event-files/flyers/0545ebd5-3ae6-468b-8c4f-9c6c5c56d1ad_flyer.pdf Raffle Winners Our lucky raffle winners are: First Place of $500: David Cox (Mini-Spartan.
