It's Tournament Time!
The tournament season kicks off next weekend with our own Spartan Kickoff on Sunday, Dec. 3. We hope to have big participation from our club! We strongly encourage all wrestlers to compete, even those who are wrestling for the first time. Tournaments give kids great context for what they are learning at practice, and this time of year, all beginners are learning together. We do the bracketing ourselves and can ensure that beginners are placed with other beginners so that everyone has a great experience. Tournament registrations should be in the tournament envelope by 6 p.m.Thursday. You can find this envelope on the tournament board outside the doors of the wrestling room. Don't forget to turn in raffle tickets by the end of the morning session at our tournament Sunday! The drawing will be held before the afternoon session begins. Please sign up for your time slot ASAP to help at our tournament! We ask all families to volunteer in some fashion, regardless of whether your child is participating. The signup link is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f4eaca62ca7f94-12317 Parent coaches: If you plan to coach your own child or others at AAU tournaments, you need to obtain your AAU coaching card at aauwrestling.net. You must have your card on you at the tournament. Schedule for the week: Monday: Minis practice matches, 5:30-6:45 p.m. Minis will get ready for their first tournament by getting familiar with the format of a match. Have them wear their singlets under their shorts and Ts. They will also do weight checks this week. Please make sure they get weighed in on Monday or Wednesday this week. Tuesday: Junior Spartans practice 6-8. Weight checks will be done Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday: Minis will practice 6:45-8 p.m. Note time and day change! Our high school teams will be using the wrestling room to warm up for their season-opening dual meet, so our Minis may enter the room as soon as they vacate. Thursday: Junior Spartans practice 6-8. Deadline to register for Spartan tournament 6 p.m. Make sure all wrestlers have checked weight! Saturday: Setup for the tournament will take place in the afternoon. Volunteers will be notified of time. Sunday: Spartan Kickoff! Have a great week!
