Spartan Update: Jan. 16

1/16/2018

Great weekend, Spartans!

We had 34 Spartans compete in the Ozark District Tournament Sunday, and many of them brought home medals. Congratulations to all! Special recognition goes to our champions in both divisions:

Gold:
Jaxon Jundt, B40
Chase Gray, M60
Kyan Franklin, SB125

Blue:
Miller Austin, B55
Gage Basala, SB75
Logan Rubinstein, SB80
David Cross, SB90
Aidan Hernandez, SB119

You can see information on all the tournament finishes on Trackwrestling.com.

Just a reminder that the AAU Triple Crown award can be earned by finishing first in the Blue divisions of all three Triple Crown events in the same year, Ozark, Missouri Challenge and AAU State. Wrestlers do NOT have to compete in the same weight class at all three events to qualify. Good luck!

St. Clair Tournament Added to the Calendar for this Weekend

Due to lack of other closer AAU tournaments scheduled, we have added the St. Clair tournament to the calendar for this Sunday. We will not be sending our high school coaches, however, as they will all be coaching high school events on Saturday and we don't want to send them this far on Sunday. So, if you register for this tournament, you will need to either have an AAU coaching card or make sure that one will be in attendance so that your child will have a coach matside. I will let you know if I find out that there will be parent coaches there who will help you out. Fee is $20 and all divisions start at 9 a.m.

Track Wrestling 101 Educational Session: Thursday, Jan. 18, 6 p.m. in cafeteria

You may have noticed that last weekend's tournament information was available on trackwrestling.com, and you may have heard other parents talk about "Track." What is Track Wrestling? What is it for? How do I use it? How do I set up a profile for my wrestler? Experienced Track Wrestling enthusiast Adam Graham (and some other experienced parents) will be on hand to share his expertise and guide you through the process. Bring a laptop or other device to use. FHSD guest wifi is available.

Remaining schedule for this week:

Tuesday
:

Wednesday:
Minis practice 5:30-6:45
Combined practice for ALL Junior Spartans in the cafeteria, 6-8 p.m.
