Schedule for this week: Monday, Jan. 1: No practice. Happy New Year! Tuesday, Jan. 2: Jr. Spartan practice will be moved to 11:30-1:30, right after high school practice, so that our coaches can enjoy the rest of the day at home when they are finished. This applies to both rooms. Wednesday, Jan. 3: Minis practice 5:30-6:45 Thursday, Jan. 4: Junior Spartans practice 6-8 p.m. ALL WRESTLERS NEED TO HAVE AN UPDATED WEIGHT TAKEN THIS WEEK. Fingernails Just a reminder to all of our parents to check their wrestler's fingernails to see if they need to be trimmed prior to practices and tournaments! Some of their partners have been dealing with scratches on their faces and arms, etc. Mehlville Oakville Tournament - Jan. 7 Thursday is the deadline to register for the Mehlville Oakville Wrestling Club tournament at Mehlville High School next Sunday, Jan. 7. Important note: Novices have been moved to the afternoon session. Tots, Bantams and Midgets start at 9 a.m; Novices, Schoolboys and Cadets begin at 1 p.m. There is also a $2 admission fee for this tournament. AAU Ozark District Tournament - Jan. 14 The deadline for this tournament is also Thursday! You will need to select Blue or Gold division (or both if any of our first-years are feeling ambitious) AND a weight class. Although we will check weights at practice, it is your responsibility to select the weight class your wrestler will compete at in this tournament. All wrestlers will weigh in and must weigh at or below the chosen weight class. Wrestlers who do not make weight will not be allowed to wrestle. This info would include finish at last year's Triple Crown events, USA state tourney, this year's overall record and head-to-head competition results. If information is not provided, your wrestler may not be seeded at the tournament. District Duals Each year, Missouri holds a District Duals tournament. Each of the eight USA wrestling districts puts together two dual teams, one of 10U kids and one of 14U kids, and those teams compete against dual teams from the seven other districts for district bragging rights. In order to be included in the wrestle-offs, athletes must have a current USA Card registered with a District 8 club. Wrestlers must make the scratch weight they plan to wrestle at the duals +2 lbs.
