Wrestling is on! Sign up for the 20-21 Spartan Wrestling Club 10/7 or 10/20 at FHC.
This year may look a little different, but Spartan Wrestling Club is a go! We ask for your patience as we figure out how to make things work, but here is what we know so far:
Hello, everyone!
It's been awhile! Life has certainly changed since we all last met. Hope everyone is doing fine. Just a reminder, Spartan-Style Wrestling Camp is being held from 5-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday this week. Due to district Covid restrictions, we are limited to one week of camp this year, and it is only open to students entering grades 9-12. If you haven't signed up your entering freshman yet, you can still do so at fhcsummercamps.com. Please be aware that no adults are allowed in the building during camp. Coaches ask that you drop your wrestlers off at the door and pick them up at 8 p.m. We are uncertain at this time when and how youth wrestling will be able to take place in the fall, but we will keep you informed as those decisions are made. It is our hope to have everyone back on the mat as soon as it is safe to do so; however, there will undoubtedly be additional precautions taken for quite some time. Still have a singlet at home? Last call! We are offering one last opportunity to return singlets to FHC, this coming Thursday, July 23, 6-7 p.m. Just drive around to the parking lot by the baseball field, and we will collect them there. If you can't make that day or time personally, we encourage you to send your bagged and labeled singlet with someone else. If you need directions to drop it off at our house instead, please text me at 314-640-5007 and I will send you our address. Just make sure all singlets are in before July 30, as that will be deposit check forfeiture day. Take care, and we hope to see everyone soon! LeAnn Cross The Spartans had nine wrestlers place in the top four at Regionals Saturday and punch their ticket to the USA State tournament in Kansas City this weekend. Congratulations to:
Miller Austin, 2nd Grayson Graham, 3rd Chase Gray, 2nd Colton Gray, Champion Enzo Hernandez, 4th Noah Keen, 3rd Sedrick Laird, 2nd Seamus Lawless, 2nd Owen McCracken, 2nd You can follow them this weekend on Trackwrestling.com. Search for the 2020 Missouri USA State Tournament. Good luck, Spartans!! As the big weekend gets started...
For those of you whose kids are completing their seasons this weekend at AAU State (or aren't competing at either AAU State or USA Districts):
For those competing at AAU State Gold or Blue: Both Blue and Gold divisions must weigh in at one of the times and locations listed on the flier. (See below.) BLUE wrestlers must make scratch weight or they cannot wrestle. If GOLD wrestlers do not make scratch weight, they will be bumped to the next weight class. The exception to this is if Blue wrestlers are also wrestling at USA Districts on Saturday. If this is the case, see below. Note that you have to follow instructions to the T in order to count your USA Districts weigh-in for AAU State.
AAU State Weigh-in Schedule & Locations Jefferson Middle School - 2660 Zumbehl Rd – St Charles MO 63301 • Friday, February 28th - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. – Blue & Gold Division only / All Age Groups St Charles West High School – 3601 Droste Rd – St Charles MO 63301
For those competing at USA Districts at Seckman tomorrow WEIGH-INS: Friday, February 28th 6:30-8:00 p.m. Seckman High School – 2800 Seckman Rd. 63052 (There is mention of remote sites but no information given.) Saturday, February 29th 7:30-8:00 a.m. Seckman High School – 2800 Seckman Rd. 63052 Scratch weight. Any wrestler who fails to make the weight at which they were entered will not be allowed to wrestle, absolutely no changes. Wrestlers will be allowed to weigh-in one time only on Friday night. If a wrestler is over-weight on Friday, than they will be allowed to weigh-in one time only on Saturday morning. Scales will be opened one-half (1/2) hour prior to the weigh-in times on Friday and Saturday to allow wrestlers to check their weight; after the weigh-ins begin, there will be no checking of weight. Wrestlers must be allowed to use any of the certified scales being used for the competition weigh-ins. Wrestlers who are overweight after their one time weigh-in on Saturday morning will not be allowed to wrestle. There will be no running, or other weight loss measures, allowed inside the wrestling facility. If you're planning to use the weight at Districts for AAU State, make sure you have followed the instructions! More info First of all, remember that you will be unlikely to be able to make or receive calls or texts from within Seckman's campus, or use the Internet. This means you must plan ahead! Print out your child's bracket from TrackWrestling, and arrive early enough to figure out which gym you'll be in. If your child places in the TOP SIX, he or she will qualify for regionals next Saturday in Jackson, MO. You must pay the $20 fee for regionals before leaving the tournament. Please find Anne Jundt (who will be wherever her son Jaxon is wrestling) and take care of this before leaving. You'll also need to decide whether you want to stay overnight in Jackson next Friday night or take advantage of the "remote" weigh-in at Seckman HS. (Had heard it would be at Howell but this did not come to fruition.) All USA kids will continue to practice through USA State week. Schedule forthcoming. Good luck to everyone! Wrestle like Spartans! It's a big week!

Sign up with us by Tuesday, Feb. 18. See the flier here. The USA State Series Feb. 29 at Seckman HS - District 8 Tournament The top six wrestlers in each bracket qualify for the Region D tournament. Each qualifying wrestler must pay $20 fee for Regionals before leaving the District Tournament. Wrestler must remain at the same weight class for the duration of the series. March 7 at Jackson HS - Region D Tournament March 13-14 at Hyvee Arena in KC - Missouri USA State Tournament Top four finishers in each bracket advance to USA State Tournament. Each qualifying wrestler must pay the state fee (was $30 last year) before leaving the District Tournament. Wrestlers will also be given the opportunity to order Spartan State Team shirts for themselves and their families. Payment will be due on site. Age groups (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U) are determined by age as of Dec. 31, 2019. The series is open to wrestlers who were 7 or older on Jan. 1, 2020. No 6U wrestlers allowed. (No wrestling up in age.) If your child has not participated in a USA Wrestling tournament this season, he/she will need a USA card. Email leanncross99@gmail.com ASAP if you have not attended a USA tournament yet this season but plan to do the USA state series, so I can get the card in process. Special note for parents or coaches who have USA coaching cards (aka Wrestling Leader cards): To be valid for coaching at any point during the state series, these cards must be at least Bronze level AND contain a photo of you. See the Missouri USA Wrestling site for directions on how to accomplish this, and don't wait until the last minute, as photos must be approved in advance. https://www.missouriusawrestling.org/page/show/929692-welcome-to-missouri-usa-wrestling Qualifying for State is a great accomplishment for a wrestler, and the Spartans have a long list of former champions and placers. Let's continue the tradition and get great participation! Final Practices The final practice of the season will be Thursday, Feb. 27 for wrestlers NOT participating in the USA State series. The USA wrestlers will continue their practice schedule through the conclusion of the USA State Tournament, and all participating wrestlers are welcome to attend all practices whether they do or do not qualify for the next round. Online Orders If you placed an order with round two of the online store, we are hoping to have those orders next week some time. I'll keep you posted on delivery date. If everyone can make arrangements to pick up their orders on the same day, that will make things easier for us. Year-End Banquet Volunteer Each year, we hold a year-end banquet of some sort to celebrate our wrestlers' successes. If you'd like to be involved in this planning process, please email me at leanncross99@gmail.com. Planning involves selection of date and venue, assistance with awards/decor/food, etc., and coordination of RSVPs. Happy Monday!
