Hi everyone,
See ya, 2020! Here is the practice schedule for the last week of this hellacious year! Tuesday, Dec. 29, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 6-8 p.m. All kids who plan on wrestling in an upcoming tournament should get a weight check this week. As usual, kids who would be quarantined if school were in session or who have had a possible exposure to Covid should NOT attend. Upcoming tournaments The Missouri Challenge (first leg of the AAU Triple Crown series) will be hosted by Hillsboro Wrestling Club on January 9 & 10. Click here for the flier for full details. For first-timers, this is a bracketed tournament for which you must 1) choose a weight class when you register and 2) take your child to one of the weigh-ins listed on the flier to weigh in. Your child has to weigh at or below the weight class registered for, while wearing a singlet. The weight classes for each age division are listed below (and also on the flier): Tot: 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, HWT Bantam: 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, HWT Midget: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 92, 100, 112, 125, HWT Novice: 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 108, 119, 132, 148, HWT Schoolboy: 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, HWT Cadet: 88, 95, 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, HWT All HWT entries must provide exact weight of wrestler when registering. Although there is usually a gold division for first-year wrestlers and a blue division for experienced wrestlers, that is NOT the case this year. Wrestlers will all be bracketed together, and wrestlers are generally eliminated if they lose twice (except in the semifinals or place matches). The top four wrestlers earn medals. In some weight brackets where there are not many competitors, a round-robin format may be used instead. To register, choose one of the following options: •Venmo $30 to @LeAnn-Cross no later than Wednesday, Dec. 30. In the notes, list 1) your child's name, 2) tournament name and 3) the weight class you choose. (Do NOT list your child's actual weight, only the weight class YOU choose.) OR •Send $30 cash or check with your child to practice Tuesday or Wednesday, in an envelope with 1) child's name, 2) tournament name and 3) the weight class you choose. (Afterward, please confirm with your child that he or she gave the envelope to the coach.) Also mark your calendar for Sunday, January 17, for the New Year's 2021 Breakout Jr. Viking Tournament at Francis Howell HS. We will take registrations for this after registrations for MO Challenge have closed. Click here for the flier. Enjoy the rest of the holidays!
