Hello, we are passing along this email from Greg Mattison of the Jr. Patriots Wrestling Club, along with the new flier for this tournament. You will notice that Greg says the tournament will allow not only first-year wrestlers (with a 4 rating), but also less-experienced second-year wrestlers ( who would be rated 3s). Just to clarify, this would not include a second-year wrestler who has been wrestling intensively this season and winning most matches (and whom we would hope would be competing in the Ozark Blue tournament that day), but more of a struggling wrestler who is a better fit with the first-year wrestlers due to lack of experience. This is different from the normal AAU Triple-Crown events, which are separated into first-year only wrestlers (Gold) and everyone else (Blue). There will be round-robin brackets and no weigh-ins. Please let me know by next Thursday, Jan. 31 if your child will participate. You can do this by filling out another form at the registration board (write APPLY CREDIT) in the payment section, or just by emailing or texting me. Weights will be taken next week at practice, and those are the weights that will be submitted. Here's Greg's email: Hello all, We've been working with the Ozark Championship and RL Wrestling leadership to help facilitate continuance of the Ozark Blue Championship. We're glad Ozark Blue will be able to run, continuing that great tournament and allowing kids to get some great competition and hopefully a Triple Crown. To that end, the Jr. Patriots have agreed to run a modified Ozark Gold-like tournament in place of our annual tournament. We will run the Jr. Patriots Gold Wrestling Tournament on Sunday, February 3rd. In short, it will be much like our normal tournament, but focused on Gold (and less experienced 2nd year) wrestlers. There were 350 registered for Ozark Gold on the original date and we hope that you will all come to our tournament. It will be run as Round Robins (as we always do), which is intentional so newer wrestlers get more matches, regardless of win/loss. In addition, as a round robin tournament, it runs super fast and we'll have you out the door by 2pm. We will be running two gyms with 12 mat surfaces and full size mats for the older Schoolboys and Cadets. We have real refs, a great hospitality room, t-shirts and 1st place gets a plaque with nice medals for 2nd and 3rd. Also, there is a Tot division. Please encourage your 1st (and even less experienced 2nd year kids) to attend as we're "taking one for the team" and hope you'll support our tournament. Attached is the updated flyer. Thanks!
