It's Go Time: Tournament Registration Kick-Off and Other Items

TOURNAMENTS AND SIGN-UP
It is hard to believe it is time to sign up for the first tournament, which is our home tournament.  Our tournament is a good opportunity to put some context to what your child has been learning in practice.
Tournament Sign-up
Starting Tuesday, November 15 the wrestling sign-up board (you won't miss it) will be set-up in the cafeteria before each practice.  Below is brief outline of the tournament timelines.  Details of the tournament will be available at the sign-up board.  I will be there Tuesday to answer any question you have about sign-up.  Also if you are a returning parent please help out our new families.

Registration for Tournaments
Registration consists of:

1. filling out a registration form located in the sign-up board
2. enclosing payment and
3. putting the registration in the specific tournament folder located at the registration board

Note:

• Please bring a check or cash to pay for registration.  The fee is usually $25 per tournament.
• Participation in tournaments is your choice. The tournaments listed above are tournaments where Spartan coaches will be present. 
• Please make sure you complete registration by end of practice on date listed above.
• Weight Check at practice:  For the tournaments listed as "at practice", we will weigh all wrestlers during practice.  I will communicate the weigh-in date.  If your wrestler can’t make the practice for weight check and is registered for the tournament, please make arrangements with Anne Jundt or a coach to have your child’s weight checked.
• Weight Check Tournament:  For tournaments listed as "tournament", you will be required to chose a weight class your child will wrestle.  Your child will need to weigh-in according to the information on the flyer.
• Be sure to take a picture of the tournament flyer and note the start time of your child’s division and if a weigh-in is required.   If you have questions about the division of your child please ask.

Also Don’t Forget…..we will need your help to make our tournament a success.  Information on how to sign-up to volunteer will be sent out soon.

Kid's Gear:  We are expecting to be able distribute the shirt and shorts that was included in your registration fee on Tuesday, November 22nd.  Wrestlers should wear this over their singlet at the tournaments.

Extra Practice:  Some have asked about extra practice.  Purler is great opportunity to get in additional work and we fortunate a practice is held at Francis Howell Central on Monday nights.  Spartan wrestlers also get a discount when signing up by using code PWAteamdisc

Media:  We love to celebrate all the kids.  I am so excited Rebecca has offered to snap pics at practice and tournaments as she is able.  Please help us out as well and send pics you snap at tournaments to Rebecca  rebecca.n.rose21@outlook.com

Whew.....that was a lot.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  And remember the name of the sport wrestling comes from the verb to wrestle. Which can be defined as "a hard struggle" be patient with child and encouraging.  Believe me it is a marathon not a sprint that is well worth the journey for your child.
